2019-20 Smart Schools Plan

How does Jordan-Elbridge plan to use the funding?
After completing the network connectivity and high-tech security projects in 2018, the district has a little over $750,000 remaining from the initial $1,387,107 allocation.

On 12/4/2019, the Board of Education approved a Preliminary Smart Schools Investment Plan (SSIP). In this plan, the district proposes to replace existing interactive whiteboard equipment in most classrooms. The interactive flat panel displays and associated accessories are eligible for Smart School Bond Act funding under the Classroom Technology category. The District proposes to use $343,472 for this project.

What are the next steps?
  1. The Preliminary SSIP was posted on the District’s web site for 30 days from December 2019 to January 2020.
  2. There was a public hearing at the Board of Education Meeting on January 15, 2020.
  3. At that meeting, the Board formally adopted the Smart Schools Investment Plan.
  4. On 2/4/2020, the district completed and submitted the Plan. In the plan, we describe how the proposed technology purchases will:
    • enhance differentiated instruction;
    • expand student learning inside and outside the classroom;
    • benefit students with disabilities and English language learners; and
    • contribute to the reduction of other learning gaps that have been identified within the district
  5. The approval process timeline is variable and unknown but the hope is that the plan is approved in time to purchase the hardware in early-July for installation before the start of school.
