Voters approve 2020-21 Jordan-Elbridge school budget; elect three board members

On June 16, Jordan-Elbridge Central School District voters approved the district's $31,390,000 budget for 2020-21 with 1,057 yes votes to 164 no votes, and elected three Board of Education members.

The approved budget carries a 0 percent tax levy increase, which falls below the district’s legal limit as defined by New York’s tax levy cap legislation. The budget also decreases spending by 1.37 percent, or $435,000, from the current operating plan.

"We are thankful to all of our community members who took the time to fill out absentee ballots and send them in,” said Superintendent James Froio.

“Even in such a challenging school budget year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are proud to present a budget that supports our students and staff while presenting a 0 percent tax increase in four out of the last five years.”

Voters also elected three candidates for three open Board of Education seats.
