Senior creates new Jordan Bramley Library logo

You may soon notice a new logo associated with the Jordan Bramley Library. The design was thought up and created by JEHS senior Griffin LaFleur.
“I am very proud of all of his hard work and dedication to this endeavor,” said art teacher Katie DeLorenzo.

Griffin has been working on the project since the start of the school year, when library staff reached out to the art department to float the idea of a student taking on the project.

“Students from the JE High School Art Department have now officially designed the new logos being used for both the Elbridge Free Library (designed by former student Jared Vitagliano) and the Jordan Bramley Library,” added DeLorenzo.

Griffin said library staff wanted the design to be inspired by the Erie Canal, because of the building’s proximity to the waterway, incorporate the library’s mission statement, and symbolize the library’s vast digital offerings. With that in mind, his idea took off.

“There are signs along the canal with the history of the canal that look like a book and have that blue and yellow color scheme, so it kind of looks like one of the signs, it was one of my main ideas,” said Griffin, while explaining his thought process.

The cord outlining the book and the picture of the world both represent parts of the Jordan Bramley library mission statement, “The community hub connecting our patrons to the world.”

Griffin plans to study graphic design in college, and said this project was great practice in working with future clients.

“I needed to understand what they wanted, but also be creative at the same time and figure our what I wanted to do,” said Griffin.
Griffin will attend SUNY Polytechnic Institute in the fall and plans to major in business with a minor in graphic design.
