School opened on Sept. 8

In August Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that in-person instruction is permitted in all regions of New York state for the start of the 2020-21 school year based on current COVID-19 infection rates, while also outlining new requirements related to school reopening plans. The first day of school at Jordan-Elbridge was Sept. 8, and the district opened its schools for in-person learning to students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 every weekday. District leaders created a reopening committee of more than 60 members (consisting of parents, teachers, community members and more) and set a goal to open schools to students in every grade in a manner that was as safe as possible. They set that goal because of the results they received from a community survey.

Remote learning, COVID-19 testing and contact tracing part of reopening plan

Gov. Andrew Cuomo stated that districts are required to post the specific elements of their reopening plans that deal with remote learning, COVID-19 testing and contact tracing protocols, and that the remote learning plans must directly address equity considerations.
