Other notes and important information/details:
  1. Tax bills will be sent to property owners around August 25th by Onondaga County Department of Real Property. New this year: Both Onondaga and Cayuga County taxpayers can digitally pay/view their tax bill(s) on the county’s E-Link system.
  2. Bills can be paid on-time from any Onondaga or Cayuga County properties at Lyons National Bank (LNB) in Jordan, NY from 9/1 through 9/30 with no late fees. Property owners who pay a monthly mortgage can contact their mortgage company/bank for confirmation of tax payment(s). These institutions typically pay school taxes automatically from the property owner’s escrow account(s) without the property owner’s involvement.
  3. Bills can be paid with a 2% late fee from any Onondaga or Cayuga County properties at LNB from 10/1 through 10/31. Totals will be printed on each property owner’s bill with the fee included.
  4. LNB cannot accept any Onondaga County property tax payments after the close of business on 10/31. Property owners would send their payments directly to the Onondaga County Department of Real Property if paying after 10/31 (there is a 5% fee associated with all payments made after 10/31). The address to send Onondaga County payments will be printed on the tax payer’s bill.
  5. LNB will accept Cayuga County property tax payments from 11/1 through 11/15 close of business with a 5% penalty. Bills will show this fee and include it in the totals if paying after 10/31. After 11/15, if a Cayuga County property owner is delinquent on a tax payment, they would need to contact the Cayuga County Tax department directly for further instructions.
  6. Both Onondaga and Cayuga counties will add school taxes due (with steep additional penalties) to the county property owner’s county/town tax bill(s) if the school tax remains unpaid after 11/15.
  7. Jordan-Elbridge CSD does not accept tax payments at any school building, the district office, or the business office. All tax payments must be made online, via escrow, or at Lyons National Bank (Jordan, NY branch only) as described above.

Homeowner tax rebate credits

The Jordan-Elbridge CSD budget remained within the state’s tax cap limit.  As such, homeowners have been receiving homeowner tax rebate credits in the mail. Those who are eligible and haven’t received them to date can expect to receive them between the time that school tax bills are issued and the date that school tax payments are due.

For details, see Homeowner tax rebate credit, which includes frequently asked questions and a check amount lookup.
