Celebrating Excellence: JE Varsity Winter Sports Awards

In a dazzling display of athleticism, dedication, and teamwork, the Jordan-Elbridge Varsity Winter Sports Awards recently honored outstanding student-athletes who have excelled in basketball, wrestling, winter track, bowling, and cheerleading. This momentous occasion not only recognizes their remarkable achievements but also symbolizes the culmination of countless hours of hard work and perseverance.

The Varsity Winter Sports Awards, held on March 18, provided an opportunity to honor the outstanding performances of the athletes and celebrate their contributions to the spirit of sportsmanship within the Jordan-Elbridge community.

Dan Stadtmiller, Jordan-Elbridge Director of Health, PE, and Athletics, began the evening by listing off several immense highlights from the 2023-2024 winter season:

• The Girls Varsity Indoor Track team and Girls Varsity Basketball team each earned scholar athlete recognition.
• Girls Varsity Basketball senior Ava Hildebrant reached the 1,000-point-club.
• Boys Varsity Basketball sophomore Nolan Brunelle reached the 1,000-point-club.
• Indoor Track senior David Lawless set a new school record in the 55m dash, becoming a B-2 sectional champion.
• The inaugural Unified Bowling team went 5-1 in league play.
• The Boys Combined Wrestling team won their first-ever sectional tournament, and their coach, Mike Nguyen, received the D2 Coach of the Year award.

As we reflect on the highlights of the season, it is impossible not to be impressed by the outstanding performances that unfolded before our eyes. Whether it was the graceful precision of our bowlers, the lightning-fast reflexes of our basketball players, or the breathtaking agility of our wrestlers, each athlete brought their unique skills to the forefront, leaving an indelible mark on the JE sports legacy.
