Civil Service Competitive Class

An employee will serve a probationary period of 52 weeks.  Prior to the end of the 52-week period, the employee should be notified of either permanent appointment under existing Civil Service Laws or be recommended for termination to the Board of Education by the Superintendent

Supervisors of any Civil Service employee should council their employees during their probationary periods as to their progress in the position and should any unsatisfactory items be discussed, that should be reduced to writing, dated and signed and placed in the employee’s personnel records.

Non-Competitive Class

Any Civil Service employee of the District who is at a non-competitive Civil Service position shall be covered under existing Civil Service procedures of Onondaga County School Districts in effect at the time.

Continuing Contract

An appointment shall become established upon the completion of a 52-week period.
