McKayla Rohmer – co-valedictorian

McKayla Rohmer has been named the co-valedictorian of the Class of 2019. She is completing a rigorous high school academic program with college-level courses in addition to many extracurricular activities.

She was a member of the varsity softball team, and has held membership in the National Honor Society and the Science Olympiad team. McKayla also took part in the district’s Early College High School (ECHS) program at Onondaga Community College, and expects to graduate with about 46 college credits. She said being named co-valedictorian validates all the hard work she has put into her education.

She also credits JE with giving her a solid foundation for the future.

“JE has been very helpful in achieving my goals. The small school environment, along with terrific teachers and amazing friends, has proven to be ideal for me to thrive in,” she said.

“It’s astonishing how many courses JE offers, especially ones at a college level. Those opportunities helped me to get to where I am today. The ECHS program allowed me to take the higher level courses and be over-prepared for my future at college.”

McKayla has not selected which college she will attend but wants to major in engineering science.
