3YP moving to Elbridge Elementary in 2019-20; school day hours for 3YP, 4YP, and kindergarten to change
Beginning in September of 2019, the 3-year-old (3YP) program at Jordan-Elbridge will move to Elbridge Elementary and unite Jordan-Elbridge’s 4-year-old (4YP) program and kindergarten. The hours of the school day will also change for 3YP, 4YP and kindergarten for the 2019-20 school year. The new hours will be from 8:35 a.m. to 3:10 p.m.
Elbridge Elementary principal RJ Hartwell said the move also allows for a single bus run, and as a result, the time students spend traveling on the school bus will be less than the 2018-19 school year.
“Having a single arrival and dismissal time for all three programs will improve the safety of students and staff,” he said.
“The school day for students in grades 1-3 will remain the same as in the current school year: 8:55 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. These times are staggered to accommodate all the buses and children coming and going each day.”
The 3YP students will have daily specials, including art, library, music and physical education. Students will have easier access to additional resources such as occupational and physical therapies. There will also be improved counseling support and an enlarged indoor play space that will further support and engage the district’s youngest learners.
Additionally, Elbridge Elementary will be hosting a new before and after-school child care program, known as HealthyKids, starting in September.
Children who will be enrolled in grades 4YP through grade 6 in the 2019-2020 school year are eligible. The YMCA child care program at Elbridge Elementary will conclude at the end of the current school year.
Registration for the new optional HealthyKids program is open and ongoing. Enrollment and other program details can be found at their website: https://www.healthykidsprograms.com/
