Title I Family Engagement Policy: High School

General Information

The District receives Title I, Part A funding and as such agrees to implement the following family engagement policy to meet the requirements of section 1116 of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The intent of this policy is to articulate how the faculty and staff will develop a partnership with parents and the community to help all students meet with academic success.

Title One Information Night - Thursday, October 14, 2021
•    Inform families of Title I requirements and parent rights
•    Inform families of allowable uses of Title I funds
•    Describe ways parents can participate in their child’s school experience
•    Describe the state standards and district’s curricula
•    Identify forms of assessment including report cards, local benchmarks, and state tests
ELL Information Night - Thursday, October 14, 2021
•   Inform families of Title III requirements and parent rights
•    Inform families of allowable uses of Title III funds
•    Describe ways parents can participate in their child’s school experience
•    Explain how parents request the services of a translator to be available during events and conferences as needed
•    Describe the state standards and district’s curricula
•    Identify forms of assessment including report cards, local benchmarks, and state tests
Fall Parent Conference - Thursday, October 14, 2021
•    Share progress of student in academic and social and emotional areas
•    Share progress of student attendance
•    Answer questions
•    Provide suggestions for how parents can support their child’s growth
•    Provide suggestions and support for remote learning
College Night - Thursday, October 14, 2021 & Thursday, April 7, 2022
•    Describe the process for completing the common app
•    Describe the process for completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
•    Answer parent/student questions
Progress Reports and Report Cards Issued
•    Share progress of student in academic and social and emotional areas
•    Provide suggestions for how parents can support their child’s growth
•    Report cards issued every 6-weeks to parents and students

•    Providing materials and training to help parents work with their child to improve his or her achievement

  • Wednesday, November 3, 2021 - Onondaga Community College OCC Advantage Program Parent Night
  • Thursday, April 7, 2022 - College Admission and Financial Aid Night
  • Parent Conferences by appointment scheduled by the school counseling office


Community Outreach Efforts

•    Coordinate and integrate parent and family engagement strategies/resources with other programs
  • Promote Open House and the different family supports being offered during the open house evening.
  • Promote all program nights, via mail, school messenger and social media.
  • Attendance Campaign kickoff August 26, 2021 Link Crew and Freshman Orientation
