Elbridge Elementary students participate in Halloween “Spooktacular”
Students in 4YP through grade 3 at Elbridge Elementary participated in a whole day of Halloween-themed activities during an outside “Spooktacular,” in late October.“We developed an alternative to the traditional Halloween parade so kids could experience the joy of Halloween at school,” said principal Brooke Bastian.
The school coordinated with the Hourigan Family Dairy who donated bales of hay and around 60 pumpkins. The event featured pumpkin bowling, tic-tac-toe with pumpkins, a candy corn ring toss and more. Students also participated in a “read about” where they looked for parts of a spooky text placed around campus.
Each grade level was given an hour outside for the event and students wore masks and were socially distanced.
“It turned out great. The kids had to work in teams for all of the games, so as they were having fun, they were building teamwork skills,” Bastian said.
Numerous teachers said they could see how much fun the students were having.
“Watching 4 year olds bowl with pumpkins reminds us what we’re all doing here,” said Mark MacLachlan.
