Senior's Eagle Scout project to leave a lasting impact in the Village of Jordan
It has been a busy year for Frankie Brown. She’s salutatorian for the Class of 2021, and while balancing all that comes with senior year, she’s also well on her way to becoming one of the first female Eagle Scouts in her council. She’ll receive that honor with friend and classmate Emily Mocyk, whose service project we told you about last month.Frankie and Emily have been friends since pre-school. When they were younger, the two would sit on the sidelines as their brothers participated in Eagle Scouts. One day, they were asked if they wanted to join.

“The troop was always trying to get us involved and try new things,” said Frankie.
Frankie was soon put on a fast-track to become an Eagle Scout. That means she had to complete all her badges in a condensed time-frame due to age requirements. For one of her final badges, Frankie chose to complete a community service project focusing on a cause close to her heart.
“I wanted to do something that would offset carbon emissions, while also making a difference in my own community,” explained Frankie.
She planted six trees in the village of Jordan, along the route of the Memorial Day parade. She said she always notices parade day performers standing in the heat with nowhere to escape the sun. As these trees grow, they’ll not only create a positive environmental impact, but help make a community event more enjoyable for everyone.
Frankie expects she and Emily will both be inducted as official Eagle Scout members by the end of June.
