JEHS students participate in Science Olympiad competition

Jordan-Elbridge High School students took home medals following the 2022 Science Olympiad Regional Competition. Science Olympiad teams compete in up to 23 events related to various fields of science, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

“Students spend several months becoming experts in their particular events by studying hard, practicing for lab events, and constructing amazing structures based on given design parameters,” explained teacher Dallas Aronson.

This year’s Jordan-Elbridge 2022 Science Olympiad team included senior Jillian Ferris, junior Katie Dristle, and sophomores Julian Baker-Flagg, Ella Jewsbury, Haley Root, Kelly VanLiew, and Sophia White.

The regional competition for the Midstate New York area was held on January 29th, 2022. More than 30 high school teams from the area converged on Fayetteville-Manlius High School to showcase their knowledge in events such as forensics, astronomy, ping-pong parachute, anatomy and physiology, codebusters, rocks and minerals, and more.

When the dust settled at the end of the day, 6th place medals were awarded to Jillan and Julian in Astronomy and to Jillian and Sophia in Forensics. Congratulations to the whole team for showcasing their science excellence!
