Voters approve 2022-23 school district budget
On May 17th, Jordan-Elbridge Central School District voters approved the district's $34,978,500 budget for 2022-23 with 270 yes votes to 107 no votes and elected three Board of Education members. The approved budget carries a 2.8 percent tax levy increase and increases spending by 3.45 percent, or $1,166,500.
This budget includes increased mental health support for students and their families, in part due to the addition of a county social worker. New buses will also be purchased, including more stop-arm cameras, which will hold drivers accountable and keep students safe when entering and exiting school buses.
“We aim to cultivate the best in personal growth and achievement for all students, and we are so thankful the Jordan-Elbridge community helps us to do so,” said Superintendent James Froio.
Voters also approved a proposition that allows the district to set up a bus reserve fund for future bus purchases (285 yes, 93 no). This new savings account sets aside up to $900,000 for future purchasing needs.
