JE to once again offer Summer Health and Fitness Program
The Jordan-Elbridge School District will once again offer a Summer Health and Fitness Program this summer. The program is available to students entering grades 7-9 for the 2022-23 academic year. This program was a huge success last summer, and the district is excited to bring it back again.There will be an emphasis on the importance of health an fitness, through making healthy choices daily. This 5-week program will run from July 5th, 2022 to August 11th, 2022. Students will meet 4 days-per-week, Monday-Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the high school. They will utilize the weight room, John Howes Stadium, and the gymnasium.
The goal of the program is to teach students the importance of health and fitness, and how to create heathy habits that will last a lifetime. Students will learn proper form and technique of strength exercises, basics of nutrition, how to set goals and create healthy habits and routines, plus topics such as body composition, hitting healthy targets for their age and fitness level, setting and reaching S.M.A.R.T. goals, self-confidence, body image, and fueling for performance.
For students to be eligible to participate in this groundbreaking program, they will need to:
- Commit to attending 3 sessions per-week, minimum (exceptions will be made in advance by reaching out to program administrators on a case-by-case basis).
- Be on time for sessions.
- Be prepared with a water bottle, proper clothing, and footwear.
- Be respectful to other students and staff.
- Show up ready to work and learn.
