JEMS Robotics Club to host open house on May 13

The Jordan-Elbridge Robotics Club will be hosting an Open House on Saturday, May 13th to get students excited about becoming involved in the club. Anyone is welcome to attend the open house, which will run from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., but currently Robotics Club is only available for middle school students.

The JEMS Robotics Club uses VEX IQ robotics. Each year, VEX comes out with a new game board challenge that includes different elements. Students build a robot to complete the games on the board while trying to get the best score. Students can even make a group and register for local competitions.

During the open house, there will be game boards set up so that visitors can try using a working robot. There are three ways to play: a driver controls a robot for 30 seconds and tries to score points, two teams work in an alliance to collect as many points as possible, or students pre-code the robot to run by itself for points.
