S.T.E.A.M Camp Ignites Innovation and Creativity for JECSD Middle School Students

Jordan-Elbridge Dynamic Intermediate School and Jordan-Elbridge Middle School recently held its first S.T.E.A.M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Ahead science summer camp. This immersive and exciting week-long summer camp was designed to foster a passion for S.T.E.A.M among young minds, encouraging them to explore, create, and grow in a dynamic learning environment.

The S.T.E.A.M Camp, which ran from July 17 to July 21, was specifically tailored for middle school students. During this empowering program, students were exposed to an array of hands-on activities, interactive workshops, and engaging projects that showcased the real-world applications of S.T.E.A.M disciplines. By combining the arts with traditional STEM subjects, the camp aimed to nurture well-rounded and innovative individuals who can think critically and creatively.

“Students had a chance to interact and work on socialization, as well as pursuing their own interests and exploring engineering and design,” said JEMS teacher and camp organizer Leo McCormick. “My goal was to provide an atmosphere where kids can gather and work on communication skills and positive interaction. A common interest in S.T.E A.M. provides the vehicle for that interaction.”
