JEMS Elects New Student Council Representatives

The Jordan-Elbridge Middle School held its highly anticipated student council elections last week, showcasing a vibrant display of democracy in action. The election process began with a primary election, where aspiring student leaders gathered signatures from friends and teachers on petitions to secure their spot on the ballot. After the primary elections, the pool of candidates was narrowed down to two contenders for each of the four major offices: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The campaign season kicked off with candidates eagerly decorating the school with posters, distributing "Vote for Me" bracelets and bookmarks, and preparing persuasive speeches to deliver at a schoolwide assembly attended by students in grades 4-8. To ensure a smooth and accessible voting process, the school adopted an electronic ballot system, allowing students to cast their votes efficiently and securely. The elections were conducted with transparency and fairness as top priorities. The excitement continued the next day as students in individual classrooms participated in electing their classroom representatives to serve on the student council, ensuring that every grade and class has a voice in the school's governance. The election results have been announced, and the newly elected student council members are as follows: - President: Ellie Brim - Vice President: Billy Kufs - Treasurer: Jack McCadden - Secretary: Lily Blake Additionally, the following students have been selected to serve on the student council cabinet: - Emmitt Barrett - Sophia Guzman - Emily Daniels - Bryce Boylan The student council plays a crucial role in representing the student body, organizing events, and advocating for student interests within the school community. These newly elected representatives are poised to make a positive impact on the Jordan-Elbridge Middle School in the coming year. The advisor for the JEMS student council is 6th grade teacher Drew Deapo.   Congratulations to all the candidates for their hard work and dedication throughout the election process, and best wishes to the newly elected student council members as they take on their important roles.
