Hispanic Flamenco Ballet Delights Audiences at JEHS

The Jordan-Elbridge High School auditorium was recently swept away by the passionate and mesmerizing performance of the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet. The day was a celebration of cultural diversity and artistic excellence, leaving the audience enthralled and inspired.

With over 17 years of experience, the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet, founded by the Arts and Dance Co., have been passionately dedicated to delivering top-tier cultural education to students across 39 states. They design their performances to be much more than just entertainment; the production is a look into a vibrant window of the rich and diverse tapestry of Hispanic culture, presented through the captivating lens of performing arts.

Jordan-Elbridge Middle School and Jordan-Elbridge Dynamic Intermediate School students jumped on buses and made the short trek down to the high school to be a part of the audience. Schools from throughout the region, including Sauquoit Valley Central School District, West Genesee Central School District, Pulaski Academy and Central School, Skaneateles Central School District, Oneida City School District, and Elmira City School District, also had students attend the performance.

The first show the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet performed was the “Latin Iberian Show”, which took students on an immersive journey through the soul of Latin America and Spain and included classic Spanish dances such as the Brazilian ‘Samba’ and Valencia’s ‘Pasodoble’. After an intermission, the second show, “The Arts & Dance Experience”, started with a stirring blend of Latino-Flamenco rhythms. Students then got to sway to ‘Salsa Choke’, an interactive dance segment that blends fun and education. At the end, students were also able to jump on stage and take part in a professionally choregraphed dance.

"We were thrilled to welcome the Hispanic Flamenco Ballet to Jordan-Elbridge," said Mark Schermerhorn, Principal at Jordan-Elbridge High School. "This performance was a spectacular showcase of talent and a powerful cultural experience for our students. We believe that exposing our students to diverse art forms and cultures enriches their education and broadens their horizons."
