JEHS Holds Annual Graduates of Distinction and HS Awards Ceremony

Jordan-Elbridge High School held its annual Graduates of Distinction and High School Awards ceremony last night, honoring the outstanding achievements of both its distinguished alumni and current students.

The ceremony commenced with the recognition of three exceptional alumni whose contributions have left a lasting legacy on the district and community.

Patricia Louise, class of 1980, was recognized for her remarkable 40 year career in journalism. This includes being the current owner and publisher of the Waterville Times and West Winfield Star. She is also a community leader for several organizations and helped lead a four-year effort to help secure a $10 million grant for her community.

Deborah Crocker, class of 1990, was honored for her exceptional career in dance, which saw her perform in throughout New York City and beyond. She then switched gears after obtaining her master’s degree and has started her own successful consultation business that specializes in fundraising and communication support for nonprofits.

Hon. Gale T. Mitchell, class of 1968, was honored for his lifelong commitment to the JE community, which includes four terms as a justice in the Town of Elbridge. Mitchell, who had a successful career with Fay’s Drug Stores, was also a member of the student committee who composed the district’s official alma mater in 1964.

“This is always one of my favorite nights of the school year. Every year, I reflect on the Graduates of Distinction and always think of them as such role models,” said Superintendent James Froio. “And that is definitely what you have before you tonight.”

After the alumni recognition, the ceremony shifted focus to the present-day achievements of JE students. Numerous awards and scholarships were presented, celebrating the academic excellence, leadership, and community service of the high school's current students. These honors reflect the students' hard work and dedication throughout the school year.
