JE Marching Eagles Earn Second Place at 2024 NY State Field Band Championships
The Jordan-Elbridge Marching Eagles wowed audiences with their second-place finish at the New York State Field Band Championships over the weekend, achieving a score of 81.875, just behind Le Roy High School's 83.900. The Eagles competed in the Small School 3 Class, finishing second out of eight bands, marking the second consecutive year they’ve clinched the runner-up spot.
Held at the JMA Wireless Dome, the championship brought together some of New York’s finest high school marching bands. The Eagles captivated the crowd with their 2024 show, "Why So Serious," inspired by the relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn, complete with intricate costumes, detailed face paint, and towering Gotham City props.
Reflecting on the students’ dedication, JE Marching Eagles Director Dan English remarked, “The students performed amazingly at the Dome over the weekend. They were fearless in their approach. The students truly left everything they had on the field. Seeing them bring this show to life was inspirational.”
English noted that the band, smaller and younger compared to many of their competitors, demonstrated exceptional talent and resilience. “The staff is incredibly proud of them! They are smaller in size to other bands and also incredibly young at this point. Nevertheless, they fear no one. The staff is amazed at the level that they have achieved. We are most excited about how much they have grown as friends, performers, and people over the past few months," he said.
In addition to their hard work, the community’s support played a vital role in boosting the band’s confidence. English praised the community’s spirit, saying, “The community really showed up for us throughout the year! On our way to the Finals competition at the Dome, it was amazing to see the street along Rt 5 lined with people holding signs and cheering at the buses as they drove through town. The students understand the responsibility they have to uphold a long tradition of excellence for the community.”
With another outstanding season behind them, the Jordan-Elbridge Marching Eagles continue to embody the values of passion, resilience, and community pride. Congratulations to the Marching Eagles for another unforgettable season!
