Amazing Turnout at JEMS for PTO Book Fair and Family Night
Last week, Jordan-Elbridge Middle School hosted its highly anticipated event, A Gathering of Gratitude and Great Books, in collaboration with the PTO Scholastic Book Fair, and it was a resounding success! Students, families, and staff came together for an evening filled with fun, laughter, and a shared love for reading.
One of the evening's highlights was the Turkey Hunt, where students searched for turkeys hidden among the pages of books in the fair. Each lucky finder was entered into a drawing, with winners receiving free books. Thanks to the generosity of Scholastic and the PTO, students walked away with over $600 worth of books to take home and enjoy!
The Elbridge and Jordan libraries also played an integral role in the event, offering engaging activities and valuable resources for families. Visitors to their tables learned about library programs, signed up for library cards, and explored seasonal book recommendations. Younger attendees were delighted by quick storytime sessions, while others enjoyed hands-on activities like crafting bookmarks and learning about digital lending tools. The libraries’ enthusiastic participation added an extra layer of excitement and showcased the incredible resources available in our community.
Families also made memories at the photo booth, which featured festive Thanksgiving-themed props, and participated in a variety of games and activities. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as attendees explored the book fair, enjoyed snacks, and bonded over their shared enthusiasm for literacy.
The event not only celebrated reading but also strengthened the sense of community at JEMS. A huge thank you to the PTO, our library partners, volunteers, and everyone who attended for making the night such a success. We can’t wait to see how students dive into their new books and continue their journey as lifelong readers!
