JE Science Olympiad Team Competes at Regional Tournament

The Jordan-Elbridge Science Olympiad team recently showcased their STEM skills at the regional Science Olympiad tournament, held this past Saturday at Le Moyne College. Competing against 35 schools from Onondaga County, JE students demonstrated their knowledge and problem-solving abilities in a variety of events.

Mick Chmielewski and John Peters earned an impressive 7th place finish in Air Trajectory, while Lauren Richardson and Gabrielle Rodriguez placed 10th in Write It Do It. These strong finishes are particularly notable as it was the first time these students had competed in these events.

Science Olympiad is the nation’s premier team-based STEM competition, providing rigorous, standard-based challenges to 6,300 teams at 425 tournaments across all 50 states. Students compete in a wide range of events, from engineering and physics to chemistry and life sciences.

Coach Travis Bruneau expressed his pride in the team's performance, stating, "Our students put in a tremendous amount of effort, and it showed. Competing at this level is no small feat, and to place in the top ten in multiple events is a huge accomplishment. I have no doubt that with their dedication and hard work, we'll be bringing home even more medals next year!"

With this year’s competition under their belts, the JE Science Olympiad team is already looking ahead to future tournaments and aiming even higher.
