Nine JEHS Students Earn Prestigious New York State Seal of Biliteracy

Jordan-Elbridge High School is proud to recognize nine outstanding students who have earned the New York State Seal of Biliteracy—a distinguished honor that celebrates high levels of proficiency in two or more languages.

These students recently presented their final Seal of Biliteracy projects at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES, where they impressed a panel of educators with their language skills, cultural understanding, and thoughtful presentations. Each student demonstrated not only fluency but a deep appreciation for how language and culture shape identity and communication.

The New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) is an award given to high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. The Seal encourages the study of languages, affirms the value of cultural and linguistic diversity, and provides students with a competitive edge for college and careers in an increasingly global world.

To earn the Seal, students must complete a rigorous set of criteria that often includes coursework, written assessments, and a culminating project or presentation. The Seal is placed on the student's diploma and transcript, symbolizing their achievement and dedication.

These JEHS students have gone above and beyond to earn this recognition, and we are incredibly proud of their hard work, commitment, and global perspective. Their success is a testament to the strength of our world language program and the support of dedicated educators who helped guide them along the way.
