JEHS Band Director Zachary Moser Named Quarterfinalist for 2026 Music Educator Award
Jordan-Elbridge High School Band Director Zachary Moser has been named a quarterfinalist for the prestigious 2026 Music Educator Award, presented by the Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Museum. Moser is one of 200 quarterfinalists selected from over 2,000 nominations submitted nationwide, representing 180 cities across the United States.
The Music Educator Award honors current educators—spanning kindergarten through college, in both public and private schools—who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who advocate for maintaining music programs in schools. The award program was established to recognize the profound impact that music educators have on their students and communities.
“To see Mr. Moser recognized on a national level is a proud moment for our school and community,” said JEHS Principal Mark Schermerhorn. “His passion for music education and the way he connects with and inspires students is truly remarkable.”
Moser has been a driving force in the Jordan-Elbridge music program, known for his dedication to student growth, dynamic teaching methods, and commitment to creating inclusive and inspiring musical experiences. In addition to being the JEHS Band Director, he teaches Music Theory and Sound Recording at Onondaga Community College, is the Music Director & Orchestra Conductor for the Jordan-Elbridge Musical Players, and is the Woodwind Caption Head for the Jordan-Elbridge Marching Eagles. His impact is felt throughout the district, both in and out of the classroom, as he fosters a lifelong love of music in his students.
The semifinalists for the Music Educator Award will be announced in September. Ultimately, one recipient will be chosen from 10 finalists and honored during GRAMMY Week 2026, just days before the 68th Annual GRAMMY Awards. The recipient will also attend GRAMMY events in Los Angeles as part of the celebration.
The Music Educator Award, including honorariums, is made possible through the generous support of the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation. It is also supported by the American Choral Directors Association, National Association for Music Education, NAMM Foundation, and the National Education Association.
Congratulations to Mr. Moser on this outstanding recognition, and thank you for your continued passion and dedication to music education at JE!
