JE Shines at First in Math State Finals in Albany
The Jordan-Elbridge team and their families had an unforgettable experience this past Saturday, May 31, at the First in Math State Finals, held at the New York State Museum in Albany. Competing in a field of 64 teams from grades 1 through 8, the JE 7th-grade team proudly represented the district in their first-ever appearance at the state-level competition.
Facing off against seven other top-tier school districts from across New York State, the JE team gave it their all in a highly competitive environment. Although they did not advance to the semi-final round, they earned an impressive 5th-place finish out of 8 teams—a strong showing for Jordan-Elbridge’s debut in the program.
Team members Bryce Boylan, Serah Kumar, and Blake Handley have set a high bar for future participants. Their journey to the state finals began with a major win at the Onondaga-Cayuga Regional Competition on March 20, where they placed first in the 7th-grade division and secured their ticket to Albany.
Coach and enrichment teacher Lauren Audioun expressed immense pride in her students:
“I am so proud of the entire 7th grade enrichment class for their hard work and positive attitude toward learning challenging mathematics concepts throughout the year. This group of students not only embrace the challenges but also cheer each other on to do their best mathematical work and to keep making progress.”
The dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm displayed by the students—both in competition and in the classroom—reflect the growing strength of Jordan-Elbridge’s enrichment programs. Congratulations to Bryce, Serah, and Blake for representing JE with pride and passion!
