Jordan-Elbridge Celebrates the Class of 2026 at 62nd Annual Commencement Ceremony
The Jordan-Elbridge Central School District proudly celebrated the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 during its 62nd Annual Commencement Ceremony on Friday evening at John Howes Stadium. Under beautiful summer skies, 76 graduates crossed the stage surrounded by family, friends, staff and community members to mark the culmination of their high school journey.
This year's commencement program was dedicated to the district's recently retired staff members: Katherine Arnold, Dan Bondgren, Gail Craig, Drew Deapo, Katie Gensler, Tammy Gilbert, Brian Herne, Windsor Price and Laurie Spencer.
Superintendent of Schools James Froio welcomed everyone to the ceremony, congratulating the graduates on reaching this significant milestone and encouraging them as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
Graduate Bridget Whiting then delivered a beautiful rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner, setting the tone for an evening filled with celebration and reflection.
Board of Education President Jeff Poor served as the keynote speaker, sharing words of encouragement with the graduating class. He referenced Theodore Roosevelt's famous "Man in the Arena" speech, reminding students that true success belongs to those who have the courage to step forward, take risks and persevere despite challenges—not those who simply watch from the sidelines.
Principal Mark Schermerhorn then presented the district's Wall of Honor Award to Andrea Chiaramonte in celebration and recognition of her dedicated service to the students and staff of the Jordan-Elbridge Central School District.
Valedictorian Cameron Fraher reflected on the memories, friendships and experiences that shaped the Class of 2026. She thanked the teachers and staff who supported the class throughout the years while sharing humorous moments that brought smiles and laughter from classmates and the audience alike.
Salutatorian Solomia Makarchuk spoke about the kindness, acceptance and sense of belonging she found within the Jordan-Elbridge community. She encouraged her fellow graduates to "live intentionally" by making deliberate choices that align with their values, passions and personal goals.
Senior Class President Sophia Rinaldo reflected on the transition that lies ahead, reminding her classmates that grades and test scores no longer define them. Instead, she emphasized that graduation marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter filled with endless possibilities.
The Small Group Ensemble delivered a musical performance before the presentation of diplomas began. Superintendent Froio presented each graduate with their diploma while High School Secretary Julie Hickey presented each graduate with a commemorative rose.
As the ceremony drew to a close, graduates, families and staff joined together in singing the Jordan-Elbridge Alma Mater. Principal Schermerhorn then officially presented the Class of 2026, prompting thunderous applause as graduates celebrated by tossing their caps high into the air.
Following the ceremony, families and friends gathered on the stadium turf to embrace their graduates and capture photos that will preserve memories of this milestone for years to come.
Congratulations to the Jordan-Elbridge High School Class of 2026! The entire Jordan-Elbridge community is proud of your accomplishments and looks forward to seeing all that you achieve in the years ahead. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. Eagle Pride!
